Colston Hall

Project:

Colston Hall, Colston Street, Bristol

Value:

£445,000

Duration:

Various Phases from October 2018 to December 2019

About the Project:

EAS were instructed to carry out the removal of licensed and non-licensed asbestos within a Grade II Listed Concert Hall.

The asbestos removal works formed part of a £48.8 million redevelopment programme undertaken by Bristol City Council.

The works carried out involved an array of asbestos removal techniques including but not limited to wet injection, wet shot blasting and wrap and cut.

A substantial purpose built scaffold including a hoist was erected beneath the ceiling to enable the licensed removal works to be carried out safely. Once the licensed removal had finished the scaffold was adapted to accommodate the removal of the cement ceiling above.

Whilst on site we were also asked to carry out the wet shot blasting of the walls and ceilings to cellars beneath the auditorium. These will soon be opened up to the public for the first time in 150 years.

This became a very demanding project due to additional ACMs being identified and considering listed items that needed to remain in situ.
